Recall time plan: From June 5, 2020, recall imported A4 Avant and A5 cars and domestic A4L, A6L and Q5L cars produced before August 31, 2019; Since September 29th, 2020, domestic A4L, A6L and Q5L cars produced after September 1st, 2019 have been recalled.

For the vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to the manufacturer’s reasons, there may be tiny injection air holes in the inverters of some starting generators. When moisture accumulates in the air holes, it may lead to electrolytic short circuit of electronic components in the inverters, which may further lead to local heat accumulation in the starting generators. In extreme cases, the possibility of vehicle fire cannot be ruled out, and there are potential safety hazards.

FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. will entrust Audi authorized dealers to replace the starting generators for vehicles within the recall range free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards. In order to ensure the timely supply of spare parts, the starting generator used in this recall will use Audi original remanufactured parts, and the remanufactured parts will use permanent waterproof paint to seal the conductive bracket of the inverter of the starting generator, thus avoiding the internal short circuit caused by water vapor entering the conductive bracket. FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. confirmed that Audi’s original remanufactured parts fully meet Audi’s quality standards, and provided a ten-year unlimited mileage extended warranty service for the recalled and replaced starter generator.

FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. will notify the owner by registered mail, SMS, etc., and Audi authorized dealers will take the initiative to contact relevant users according to the recall plan and arrange free recall maintenance. Users can call the Audi customer service hotline of FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd.: 400-817-1666 to learn more about the recall.
