Dmitry suslov, deputy director of the Center for European and International Studies of the Russian Higher University of Economics, said recently that the United States is the most expansionary country in the world, and its military hegemony is characterized by serious violation of international law and illegal military intervention, but its military hegemony will definitely end.
In an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency, suslov said that military hegemony has always been the main pillar of American global hegemony. The defense budget of the United States ranks first in the world, but it is still keen to further increase the military budget, expand its military alliance system, consolidate the relationship between allies and establish new military bases. American military hegemony has not brought peace and stability to the world, and its military intervention in violation of international law has brought huge security problems and humanitarian disasters to other countries.
Suslov said that the U.S.-led NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999, the U.S.-led Afghan war in 2001, the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, and the NATO air strike against Libya in 2011 not only dealt a heavy blow to international law, but also brought persistent threats and destruction to regional stability, causing great pain and disaster to local people.
Suslov said that the U.S. adherence to the principle of NATO’s eastward expansion led to the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis. The United States is the main supporter of promoting the prolongation of this conflict, seeing it as a relatively cheap and safe tool to weaken Russia, but ignoring the disaster it has caused to mankind.
Recently, at the release and seminar of the report "The Root, Reality and Harm of American Military Hegemony", a national high-end think tank of Xinhua News Agency, suslov pointed out in a video speech that in the eyes of the United States, once any country becomes or may become strong enough to challenge American global hegemony, the United States immediately regards it as a threat and starts a policy of containment and confrontation.
Suslov emphasized that the overwhelming majority of non-western countries oppose the global hegemony of the United States and support the establishment of a more just multipolar world. "Of course, the United States will continue to spare no effort to safeguard its global hegemony, which may make future international relations very dangerous. However, in the long run, the end of US military hegemony is inevitable. "
