Guidelines on the prevention of novel coronavirus infection and public wearing masks(April 2023 edition) "Unscramble questions and answers
1. Why should the guidelines for wearing masks be revised?
During the period when novel coronavirus was infected with "Class B A tube", the state successively issued five editions of guidelines for wearing masks, which played an important role in protecting public health and effectively preventing and controlling the spread of the epidemic. On January 8th, 2023, the "Class B Management" was officially implemented for novel coronavirus infection, and the prevention and control work was fully transferred to the stage of "protecting health and preventing severe diseases", during which the public was encouraged to continue to adhere to good hygiene habits such as wearing masks. Thanks to the unremitting efforts of all parties, the country has achieved a smooth transition in epidemic prevention and control in less than two months and achieved a major decisive victory in epidemic prevention and control. At present, the epidemic situation in COVID-19 in China is generally sporadic, but the global epidemic situation is still prevalent and the virus strains are constantly mutating, so there is still the risk of epidemic rebound in China. According to the epidemic situation and the need of prevention and control in China, on the basis of the first five editions of the guidelines for wearing masks, we organized and formulated the Guidelines for Preventing People from Infecting novel coronavirus from Wearing Masks (April 2023 Edition) (hereinafter referred to as the Guidelines for Wearing Masks) to guide the public to wear masks scientifically and standardly.
2. What are the main revision considerations of the newly issued Guidelines for Wearing Masks?
First, considering the current epidemic situation and the harm changes in novel coronavirus, the suggestion of wearing masks was optimized and adjusted, which further reduced the situations or scenes where masks should be worn, and minimized the impact on public production and life on the basis of ensuring the prevention and control effect. The second is to focus on the guidance of the public to wear masks. For common situations and scenes closely related to public life, work, study, etc., the classification suggestions of wearing masks, suggesting wearing masks, and not wearing masks are put forward. The third is to adhere to the principle of dynamic optimization and adjustment. The Guidelines for Wearing Masks will be revised and improved according to the changes in the epidemic situation and the needs of prevention and control. All localities and departments can formulate local and industry mask guidelines according to local and industry realities, combined with the epidemic situation and referring to this mask guideline.
Third, which situations or scenes should wear masks?
There are three kinds of situations or scenes where masks should be worn: First, there are situations where there is a risk of epidemic spread, such as when the public is infected in novel coronavirus or when there are symptoms of suspected novel coronavirus infection. Second, it is in a situation or scene with high risk of infection, such as when there is a cluster epidemic in the community where you live, work or study, and when you go to a medical institution for treatment, accompanying, accompanying and visiting. Third, it is necessary to guard against situations or scenes in which the epidemic situation is imported into key institutions. For example, foreigners should wear masks when entering places where vulnerable people are concentrated, such as pension institutions, social welfare institutions, child care institutions, schools, off-campus training institutions and other key institutions. Public service personnel such as medical care, catering, cleaning and security should wear masks throughout their work to prevent the epidemic situation from being imported into relevant key institutions.
4. What situations or scenes suggest wearing a mask?
There are three main types of situations or scenes that suggest wearing masks: First, entering areas or places with large traffic or closed environment and crowded people, such as taking public transport, entering supermarkets, theaters, passenger stations, etc. Once there are novel coronavirus-infected people in the relevant areas or places, the epidemic will easily spread due to crowded people and poor ventilation. Second, the elderly, patients with chronic basic diseases, pregnant women and other special groups are more harmful after infection. When going to indoor public places, it is recommended to wear masks to strengthen self-protection. Third, it is a large-scale meeting or activity with a wide source of personnel and strong mobility. If the participants do not carry out nucleic acid testing or antigen testing and health monitoring, once the epidemic situation is imported, it is easy to have a cluster epidemic, and it is recommended to wear a mask.
5. What situations or scenes can you not wear a mask?
There are three main types of situations or scenes where masks are not needed: First, situations or scenes with low risk of infection, such as outdoor places such as open squares and parks, or indoor places and conference rooms with relatively fixed personnel. The second is the situation or scene where the risk of infection is effectively prevented, such as holding a large-scale meeting or activity, and detecting potential infected people in time by carrying out nucleic acid detection or antigen detection and health monitoring on the participants. The third is the situation or scene where the risk of infection is low and wearing a mask may have a certain impact on work, life and study, for example, infants aged 3 and below, school teachers and students during school and those who are exercising and wearing a mask may cause breathing difficulties.
Six, how to choose to wear the right type of mask?
In view of the high risk of epidemic spread among infected people and suspected infected people in novel coronavirus, it is suggested that they wear N95 or KN95 particulate protection masks or above (no breathing valve), while others suggest wearing disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks, and pay attention to changing masks in time.
